In conjunction with the announcement that Jessica Hall of Ayala (Chino Hills, Calif.) has been chosen as the Cal-Hi Sports Ms. Softball Player of the Year, here are the additional state players of the year for the 2010 season:
Freshmen:
Ali Aguilar, Casa Roble (Orangevale, Calif.)
She was the MVP of the Capital Athletic League and was a first team All-Metro pick by the Sacramento Bee. Aguilar, an infielder, teamed with senior pitcher Whitney Waltrip to lead Casa Roble to the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Division III title. The Rams (25-3) also ended at No. 4 overall in the final state rankings. Aguilar batted .500 and hit three homers in 82 at-bats. She went 6-for-10 in Casa’s last three games against state ranked Rodriguez (Cordelia, Calif.). Amazingly, Aguilar’s current coach, Kristen Allen, was the State Freshman Player of the Year in 1998. Allen also played at Casa Roble.
